Take Five by Paul Desmond

A wee flute and sitar piece

Music can and leap across boundaries.

It can skip or touch different eras, cultures, instruments, even continents.

In this little film, a  Jazz piece written by that sublime alto saxophone player Paul Desmond, in the mid 20th century is played in 2013 at the Marciac Festival on a flute, drum and sitar.  It does help that the backing group are New York City’s Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, can these guys play?
